After slaying the Serpent Of Ares, Athena advised Cadmus to remove it’s fangs, and sew half of them into the earth, and then take cover. Shortly after, armed warriors burst forth from the soil, and Cadmus, alarmed, threw a stone in their direction, striking one of them. Violence erupted, and the Sewn Men fought with an inhuman fury until only five were left standing. With Athena’s aid, they made peace and assisted Cadmus to found the city of Cadmea, which later on became Thebes. .
